As you are probably aware by now, my name is Matt Smith. I’m an educator and learning technologist, currently living in Bridgend, South Wales.
At present I am eLearning Project Manager for the Wales Centre for Professional Pharmacy Education, part of Cardiff University. Previously I was eLearning Manager for one of the largest FE Colleges in Wales. I am a qualified teacher having completed a secondary PGCE in Business Studies at Swansea Institute of Higher Education, now Swansea Metropolitan University (SMU) with commendation.
From the very start of my journey into a career in education I have been passionate about the use of technology to enhance learning, which has culminated in my current role.
For more information about my previous experience, you can check out my CMALT portfolio, which is available here, but bear in mind it is currently a work in progress!!!!
In my personal life I have a partner and two teenage girls, who provide me with continual inspiration, oh and not forgetting my almost human cat, Tilk. I am a keen follower of Formula One and watch the odd match of rugby (Union and League).
I am an active member of Slimming World UK. Since August 2011, I have lost 8 and half stone following this plan and having support from my group consultant and peers. Since May 2013, I have also sorted out my fitness by joining First Class Gym in Bridgend, whose instructors have really started to whip me into shape!!
mattsmeeth.co.uk is the hub for all of my various blogs and websites. The mattsmeeth blog itself is generally about life, personal stuff, musings rants, etc. There is inevitably some crossover between this and my specialist blogs where I try to concentrate on specific areas:
Learnhacker (formerly eLearning etc) is a blog about innovative learning strategies, tools, technologies etc. Its main focus is on learning technology, but also deals with learning innovations and developments and issues in education generally.
Matt v Food is a blog I set up to document my journey through weight loss. I found that being open and honest about my weight and weight loss would help me. Its great having it out in the open, as it makes it very difficult to return to life I previously had!
I hope you enjoy visiting these sites. Feel free to get in touch, follow on Twitter, etc etc.
