We decided to skip the last day of the festival (4th July). We were pretty tired and worn out and there was only Mastodon we really wanted to see, so we packed up the trusty festival cart and headed back to the car. Thankfully it was safe and as we left her. After a quick re-charge at a nearby hotel (the car, not us!!!!), we headed off to our un-planned and extra stop at a town around and hour away, Puentes de García Rodríguez.
The charging infrastrucutre in Spain is really good. The chargers are sometimes in odd places, but generally every big car park, commercial centre, supermarket and we found Repsol petrol stations have them. Many have canopies to keep you cool, which consist of solar panels, obviously helping to feed the power generation. Genius!

We arrived, and our accommodation was next door to a liitle bar called Bar Daniel. So we decided to go in and have some lunch. There was a great atmosphere – there was a local traditional music group playing in the front part. It was a great contrast to a metal festival, and we thoroughly enjoyed listening to them, as we did the amazing tortilla that we we had to eat – freshly made to order. It was completely divine!!!! We headed back to our room for a siesta.
I always like to have a wander around so I headed out with a mission to find a snack for our evening ‘meal’. The town is clearly dominated by a massive power plant. Turns out the chimney at the plant is the second tallest structure in Spain!

I stopped for a caña of Estrella Galicia and while looking up more information on the town, discovered that one of its twin towns is Camarthen! It was also home to Ignacio Echeverría, who died fighting off terrorists in the London Bridge attack in 2017, saving the lives of others, and is considered a local hero.
