Catching up on the blog posts (slowly!). So we’re on the 7th July and we had a spare day to explore Madrid. It was scorching hot, so we had to take it easy really and planned on visit a couple of small markets. However, one was packing up and the other, which was an indoor one was pretty much closed up. So we headed to a traditional Spanish bar where we stood by the bar with the locals, had a caña and a vino with of course some free tapas.
We decided to jump on a circular bus route, which for a couple of euros took us around most of central Madrid before heading for Sol square. We didn’t have much time to explore the sights in Madrid, but we definately want to return to explore this beautiful city more. Sol was buzzing. It was probably the most touristy area we’d been to. It had a bit of a West End, Leicester Square vibe about. The main rason was to visit the Mad Cool pop up shop, which was completely disappointing! At that point the heavens opended, oh my it absolutely chucked it down with rain. Luckily we were just heading for the metro to head back to Getafe for an early night ready for Mad Cool the next day.
