Day 5: A special day!

Today was a very special day at the festival. In January we had an email announcing that we could apply to have a wedding ceremony at the ResuChapel. It was not a legally binding ceremony, but it got us plotting a surprise. We decided to apply and we managed to get a space. We kept this completely secret from everyone, and we decided to set a date for an official marriage back home a few weeks after our holiday. So, after being together for 29 years, Helen & I are tying the knot!!!!

So the day went like this – watching Silly Goose, marriage ceremony, Burning Witches, Iron Maiden, Anthrax – in that order!! Ha!!! We certainly like to do things differently!

Silly Goose we amazing! It was nice to meet a couple of the guys at the entrance of the festival as they promoted their set time. They were really sound people, and were more than happy to have a photo with me!!

We then headed over to the Resuchapel, where we were joined in wedlock by a Devil Priest who resembled a re-incarnated Keith Flint. It was rather funny. It was in Spanish, Latin, and a little bit of english – so neither of us undertood much of it!! Hopefully it wasn’t a string of insults!!!!! The ceremony was topped off with a shot of ThunderBitch whiskey and a couple of photos – which Helen isn’t letting me post!!

After getting married we promptly went over to the second stage to watch Burning Witches. After a short stint back at the tent to have a nap, we headed back to the arena for Iron Maiden – who were, as always, incredible. Very much a greatest hits set. The music was amazing, Bruce’s voice is still so strong, and the visuals and of course Eddie were epic. One band I wanted to catch, Witch Club Satan, had cancelled so we headed back to the tent and I watched Anthrax from the campsite, along with my new friend Diego from Argentina, who was the night security on our end of the camp, and also really liked Anthrax!!
