Sounds like an 80s road trip comedy!
Its Monday 6th July. After our night in Santiago, we set off for our next phase of the roadtrip by air. We drove down to Vigo airport, parked up the little pocket rocket and caught a flight down to Madrid. The original plan was to spend a couple of days driving to Madrid, but dad had a great idea of flying so we did. A 45 minute flight over at least a 6 hour drive was a great option.
Vigo Airport is a small regional airport and it was so quiet! The parking was great tool right next to the terminal. If you pre-book your parking, then you get a special rate, which was a crazy €15 for 4 days!!!!
After the very short and pleasant flight, we caught a train from the airport terminal down to the Getafe barrio of Madrid and set up home at the Ibis hotel. Whilst it was quite a way out of the centre of Madrid, it was deliberately close to the Mad Cool festival site. Flying meant that we actually had some extra free time on the Tuesday to have a trundle around Madrid.
One thing – it was hot – very hot.
